Experts from the prosecutor general's office of France will arrive in Ukraine to participate in investigatory proceedings against a French citizen, who was detained on suspicion of being involved in preparation of terrorist acts before the Euro 2016 European Football Championship, Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak has said.
"Experts from the prosecutor general's office of France will arrive soon. We have received a petition of legal assistance – they are asking us to provide the materials of the criminal case for consideration. They will participate in criminal proceedings against the detained French citizen," he told a press briefing in Odesa on Friday.
"I think they will make sure that we are not joking – one simply must not play with such things. We have really prevented a series of terrorist acts in France," Hrytsak said.

As reported, on June 6, Hrytsak said that in May the SBU held an operation to prevent a series of terrorist acts in France during the Euro 2016 European Football Championship. A French citizen was detained on suspicion of being involved in preparation of terrorist acts. The suspect was searching for a possibility of buying weapons and explosives in Ukraine. The targets of the terrorist attacks were a mosque, a synagogue, government and administrative offices, Hrytsak said.
On the same day, Le Figaro newspaper reported that the authorities of France had opened a criminal case against the French citizen, who was detained in Ukraine on suspicion of preparing terrorist attacks for Euro 2016, and handed it to the central office for combating organized crime and to the regional office of criminal investigation in Nancy.
