Journalist Pavel Sheremet was killed in a car explosion on Wednesday morning, Ukrayinska Pravda said.
"The car exploded on the junction of Bohdana Khmelnytskoho and Ivana Franka Streets, in front of a McDonald's fast food restaurant," it said.
The car belonged to Ukrayinska Pravda head Olena Prytula, but she was not onboard.
The explosion occurred at 07:45 a.m. while Sheremet was driving.
Police have arrived at the explosion scene.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered the police to rapidly investigate the death of journalist Pavel Sheremet.
"I have ordered the law enforcement authorities to immediately investigate this crime. The culprits must be punished," he wrote on Facebook.
