Acting head of the National Aviation University in Kyiv was caught while getting a bribe amounted to ˆ170thousand.
Press secretary of the President of Ukraine Svyatoslav Tseholko posted on his Facebook page: "The head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reported of the detention of temporarily acting rector of National Aviation University while receiving a bribe of ˆ170thousand.
"The operation was conducted jointly with National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office," Tseholko.
As SSU reports the police officers have identified that the dean demanded ˆ170thousand from a professor via a lawyer.
The required sum was estimated sufficient to grant a professor with a work placement in the university.
SSU staff in conjunction with the anti-corruption prosecutor's office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested the acting rector and a lawyer in their offices after receipt of a bribe amounted to ˆ170thousand. The criminal proceedings have been opened under par.3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Urgent operational-investigative actions are underway.
