2 patrol police officers shot in Ukraine's Dnipro city, suspected killer detainedUkrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov informed about the detaining of the suspected killer of two police officers in the Dnipro city.

"Scum who killed police officers detained. A policewoman managed to shoot him before her own death and wound him. The suspect is having a surgery in one of Dnipro's hospitals," he wrote on a Facebook.

The attacker came to the Mechnikov hospital in Dnipro city by himself to get medical help, local media 056.ua reports referring to the chief physician Serhiy Ryzhenko. Doctors reported a patient with a bullet wound to the law enforcement agencies, and police detained a gunman.

"He had a gunshot wound. He told our doctors, that he trusts them, because once he was already treated after being injured in Anti-terrorist operation zone (in Donbas)," Ryzhenko said.

President Petro Poroshenko already commented the situation.

"I express my condolences to the families of those killed in the Dnipro city. Crime is challenging us all. Therefore we appreciate and respect the heroism of police officers who risked their lives to protect Ukraine. Evil must be punished," he posted on Facebook.

Earlier law enforcement unit had stormed an apartment in the Dnipro city, but suspected murderer was not there, Ukrinform reported referring to a spokeswoman of National Police Directorate in the Dnipropetrovsk region Anna Starchevska. Also police refute media information that the suspect in the patrol officers killing held hostages, press officer of the National police Jaroslav Trakalo told news agencies.

Patrol police officers were shot in Dnipro yesterday. One of them was killed on the scene, the second one died in hospital during surgery.
