Ukraine should become a fully energy independent state and is able to do this in the medium term, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has stated.
"Now we are starting to increase own gas production. And if former Cabinet members did everything to switch from the Russian pipeline to the European one, our task is to become a fully energy independent state. We have enough of own resources, our own opportunities, which will allow us to be absolutely energy independent, develop alternative energy and do a lot to replace traditional energy sources," he said at the second Energy Efficient Partnership Forum.

Groysman believes this could be done in the medium term.
"I believe those right steps the government is doing today, on the one hand, will protect those in need of social protection, on the other hand, will provide an opportunity for our independence," he said.
