Currency can be exchanged without a passport yet some limitations remain valid.
Starting from August 10, currency can be exchanged without a document that verifies one’s identity or citizenship.
However, the National Bank of Ukraine preserved limitations – the equivalent of an exchanged sum cannot exceed 150 thousand hryvnas, otherwise the passport is needed.
Earlier, the introduced limitation was revoked by the order of the National Bank of Ukraine dated by August 2.
The National Bank of Ukraine representatives commented: “Until now, a natural person who intended to buy, to sell or to convert (exchange) the foreign currency of any amount, had to provide a document verifying one’s identity and country of residence. People have been selling more currency to the banks than buying it.
"In January- July 2016 the net purchase of foreign currency amounted to 1,9 billion Us dollars. The management of the National Bank of Ukraine consider it is possible to liberalize the requirements of the currency exchange by a natural person, taking into account stabilization at the currency market,”- they added.
