The National gas and oil company “Naftogaz Ukraina” forecasts the drop of natural gas import by 7,7% -12bln standard cubic metre (scm), UNIAN.
The chief executive of “Naftogaz” Yurii Vetrenko said: “By 2017, we foresee the import will make up to 12bln (scm). However, the forecast is conservatively rated.”
He also noted that this year rate of gas import capacity amounts to 13bln (scm).
“Naftogaz” also predicts the consumption of natural gas in 2017 will be at the same level as the expected index this year which is 32-32,1 bln (smc).
Earlier in 2015 Ukraine renounced to purchase gas from Russia. In total, Ukraine doubled the import of natural gas from Europe compared to 2014 – up to 10,3 bln (smc), cutting the consumption of hydrocarbon from Russia by 2,3 times.
As the State Statistics Department reports, Ukraine imported 16,4(scm) of gas in 2015 that is 15,8% lower than in 2014.
