U.S. says TTIP talks are making progress while France wants a new round of negotiations
Negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between U.S. and EU are making progress, a spokesman for the U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman told Der Spiegel."Negotiations are in fact making steady progress,"
The words about free trade deal came a few days after on Sunday German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said that three years discussions had failed after Europe refused to accept some U.S. demands.
French Trade Minister Matthias Fekl said on Tuesday that this round of talks should be ended and a new set started, adding he will suggest that to fellow ministers at the end of September."At the end of the month of September, when trade ministers meet in Bratislava ...I will ask in France's name for the end of negotiations on TTIP...There should be an absolute clear end so that we can restart them on good basis "
Fekl said on RMC Radio.
