Ukraine and Kazakhstan to jointly produce nuclear fuel
Two countries agreed on the production of fuel for nuclear power plants.
Kazakhstan and Ukraine will jointly organize the production of fuel assemblies in Kazakhstan for the Ukrainian nuclear power plants, according to the National Atomic Company Kazatomprom.
This was reported on Wednesday based on the results of the meeting of the head of the National Atomic Company Kazatomprom Askar Zhumagaliyev and Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Igor Nasalik.
Zhumagaliyev said: "Cooperation in this area is promising for the "Kazatomprom" based on the company's strategic objectives to diversify production."
Nasalik in his turn noted that Ukraine is facing the task of diversifying the supply of nuclear fuel and its components, "that is why Kazakhstan can become a reliable partner for the supply of uranium products in the form of enriched uranium."
As a result of the meeting it was agreed "to work out this issue in details in the framework of the joint working group."
