External damage from the activities of Ukrainian hackers is significantly higher, Segodnya.
In Ukraine, the damage caused by cybercriminals over the 8 months period in 2016 amounted to UAH 27 million, according to the head of Postal and Television Communications Serhiy Demediuk in an interview to Segodnya.
In 2014, damage from these crimes amounted to UAH39 million, in 2015 - UAH10 million.
He noted that more than half of this amount has already been repaid to the victims.
"In many ways, the disclosure depends on the victim's timely application. In this case we have an opportunity to return the money even before the registration of criminal proceedings as we directly co-operate with the banks, and can prevent illegal financial transactions," Demedyuk said.
The amount of cyber crimes abroad has outmatched the domestic rate.
"Our staff have identified the group that caused damage of $7 million to foreign banks. As the investigation of such crimes are carried out abroad, this amount has not been taken into account of the official statistics," the head of Postal and Television Communications said.
