Ukraine's lawmakers approve bill on consumer crediting in accordance to EU directivesThe Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in its second reading and as a whole adopted bill No. 2455 on consumer crediting.

Some 247 deputies supported the corresponding bill.

"This bill implements European directives, which we copy in our legislative acts. The document gives the opportunity to our customers to be efficiently protected," deputy head of the parliamentary committee on finance and banking policy Ruslan Demchak said when commenting on the document during its consideration.

As reported, the bill on consumer crediting was passed at first reading on December 9, 2015.

Some 376 amendments from people's deputies were received by the second reading, of which 278 were accepted and 98 were rejected.

According to a press release from the head of the parliamentary finance committee Serhiy Rybalka, in particular, the document excluded the norms which can be interpreted ambiguously by the Civil Code. In addition, it introduces the possibility of conducting electronic document circulation between creditors and consumers, specifies the terms and conditions of individuals' refusal from the loan and calculating the amount of returned funds, taking into account the banks' expenditures. It also clarifies the procedure and list of documents to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers.
