Steinmeier requires law on elections in Donbas as soon as possible
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier believes that only elections in Donbas will give long-term prospect for de-escalation in eastern Ukraine.
He stated this at the press conference in Berlin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"If we overcome these obstacles, if the law on elections in Donbas is passed and the elections are held, of course under proper security conditions, this will open the prospect for a long-term solution to the conflict," the Minister said.
Steinmeier said that there should be no further delay in adoption of the law, recalling that it had been discussed within the “Normandy Four” format that such a law should be passed before the end of January.
