Prosecutors go after "Putin’s friend" for visiting occupied CrimeaThe prosecutor's office has launched criminal proceedings into the fact of the visit of the Polish MEP Janusz Korwin Mikke to the Russian-occupied Crimea, that’s according to the response by the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to the request by MP Heorhiy Lohvinsky, the Europeiska Pravda online newspaper reported.

"The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomy initiated on December 11, 2015 criminal proceedings under Part 1 Art.332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the prosecutor's office reported.

In particular, a violation is being investigated of rules of entry into the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and exiting from it aimed at undermining the interests of the Ukrainian state.

On December 10, Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke has visited the occupied Crimea, traveling to the Russian-annexed peninsula via Moscow. It is worth noting that Janusz Korwin-Mikke is a conservative liberal, often called a pro-Russian politician.

As earlier reported, PACE adopted a resolution which recognized the legitimate practice of imposing sanctions against the deputies who visited the occupied territories, including the temporarily occupied territory of the Ukrainian Crimea.23
