First Deputy of Ukraine's Interior Minister resigned for personal reasons“Eka Zguladze leaves the office. It was her request, and the government accepted it. She made the respective statement, so there’s really no need for rumors. I sincerely and hugely appreciate her working with us!”, Avakov tweeted.

Despite having resigned, Eka Zguladze will stay in the Ministry. According to Avakov, the Georgian will chair the group of his counselors.

Zguladze was appointed First Deputy Interior Minister in December 2014. Briefly before that, President Poroshenko granted her Ukrainian citizenship to make her eligible for the post. She became the second former Georgian official, after Olexandr Kvitashvili (Ukraine’s ex-Minister of Healthcare), who was assigned to a Ukrainian government position in 2014.
