Russian-occupied Crimea's court sentences Euromaidan activist to 10 years in prisonCrimean prosecutor's office in the Russian-occupied Crimea has sentenced Euromaidan activist Andriy Kolomiiets to ten years in prison.

"During the mass protests in Kyiv in January 2014 Kolomiiets attempted the lives of two officers of the Crimean special forces unit 'Berkut' by throwing fiery bottles at them," the 'prosecutor's office' is quoted by Russian news agency Interfax.

The Ukrainian has also been accused of illegal purchase and transporting of drugs.

Kolomiiets' lawyer during a March 30 court hearing claimed the defendant had been tortured after detention, and also produced facts showing the case was fraud.

The now disbanded notorious 'Berkut' special force unit has been accused of the deaths of protesters during pro-E.U. demonstrations in Ukrainian capital Kyiv in 2014.
