Russia turns Crimea in military foothold - Mejlis of Crimean Tatars head
‘By turning the annexed Crimea into another part of the Southern federal district, Russia has very clearly shown the rest of the world that the peninsula is now a military foothold,' Refat Chubarov, leader of Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, said to 112 Ukraine TV channel.

According to the decree of the President of Russia, published this week by the official web-site of Kremlin, Putin abolished the Crimean Federal District as an independent unit and turn it with Southern Federal District into a single Southern Federal District.

'For the last two years, Russia has been stuffing the occupied Crimea with military vehicles and hardware, turning its territory into a military base, throwing away its own promises to Crimean locals and the rest of the world – as if they would care about the Republic of Crimea’, Chubarov said.
