Accusing Ukraine of terrorism, Russia aims to get rid of sanctions - Gherashchenko
First Deputy Speaker of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko called on all Ukrainian parties to stand with the President and the government and condemn the Russian provocations that are underway in the occupied peninsula.
‘This is when we cannot allow any diversity in opinions or ideological differences. We’ve got to demonstrate unity to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty. I’m actually surprised by the fact that politicians keep silence in this kind of situation. It reminds me of 2008 (when Russia invaded Georgia, and the international society stalled on condemning the Russian military aggression). What do we want from the rest of the world, if we keep silence now? The President, the Foreign Ministry and the Defense Ministry released respective statements about the provocations in Crimea. And we’ve got to support this position publicly’, Iryna Gherashchenko posted on Facebook.
She added that Russia aims to lift off sanctions from itself, accusing Ukraine of terrorism, sabotage, violations of Minsk agreements
et cetera. ‘We have no right to play along with these intentions’, Gharashchenko concluded.
