Donbas militants confirmed they hold captives at least 45 Ukrainians - Ukrainian President's EnvoyMost of the prisoners are soldiers, Iryna Gerashchenko wrote in a Facebook post. Gerashchenko is a First Deputy Chairman of Verkhovna Rada and President's Humanitarian Envoy at the Minsk peace talks.

The politician says Ukraine is ready for compromises with Russia when talking about prisoners.

Freeing Ukrainians is totally at Moscow's will. Until now separatists confirmed they hold captives at least 45 people. UN representatives could visit them on August 6 for the first time during the 2-year offensive.

Gerashchenko mentioned that the easiest way to show that Russia is ready to influence separatists is to stop firing and free the hostages.

On Monday, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov promised to set separatists to meaningful dialogue.

Ukraine says at least 107 its citizens are held captive in the occupied territories, and 498 people are unaccounted for.
