Turkey plans to join EU by 2023
Turkey wants to become a member of the European Union no later than in six years that is by 2023, DW.
The Turkish ambassador to the EU Selim Yenel reported that the liberalisation of the visa procedure has to be implemented in 2016.
"2017 would not be an acceptable term," he added.
"If Turkey does not get a visa-waiver agreement, we will not send millions of refugees buses, as some could imagine. But we will no longer accept the Syrian refugees."

Enel pointed out: "At the moment, the provisions are not the most auspicious to enter the EU but it can change swiftly."
Turkey needs to fulfil 72 requirements to become a member of the EU.
