Ambassador of the European Union Yan Tombinsky pointed out five foreground reforms for the government in Ukraine, Evropeiskaya Pravda.
Ambassador who is finishing his mission spoke to the journalists and said: "A key issue the country is facing is decentralization. Even if you move away from the constitutional changes. It is necessary break the habit for the vertical power, when everyone is waiting for instructions from above. People need to take responsibilities, they should be project- oriented. "
Secondly, Tombinsky said the corruption should be tackled: "You have to approach the fight against corruption seriously. Corruption is not only the issue of withdrawal of money from the state, it is something more like a mental illness. Is a problem that starts in one's mind bu not in one's pocket. This , after all it is a question of ethics , attitude to the fact that you are citizens."
The third point the ambassador named was the political reform in Ukraine.
He said: "There must be a change of the electoral code and the political system . The system should be changed so as to make politicians accountable to something, to have something dependant on whether they fulfill their promises or not.
"Due to the lack of such a system, the election did not lead to changes for the better. And that's why you do not have this party system - instead there are groups of people who are guided by a leader," ambassador added.
"Fourth - a revitalization of the economy, with an increase in the ratio of small and medium businesses," Tombinsky pointed out.
He said: "And the fifth - you should strengthen internal Ukrainian dialogue. there must be a reconciliation of Ukrainians with Ukrainians .The country badly needs internal integration - and this is something that can not be achieved by any laws ."
"Unfortunately, this issue is being given too little attention," he added.
"Only five priorities , and in my opinion , that's enough," Tombinsky concluded.
