White House talks to Democratic and Republican teams over transition

White House talks to Democratic and Republican teams over transitionWhite House on Thursday organized the meeting with Democratic and Republican presidential campaign representatives to talk over preparations for a smooth transition of power in January to whoever wins the November 8 election.

President Barack Obama's chief of staff Denis McDonough was in charge of the meeting with Representatives of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Ken Salazar, the former Interior Secretary, is leading the transition team for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is the transition chair for Republican candidate Donald Trump, the White House said.

Obama’s administration wants the transition to be held with minimum disruption and maintaining continuity.

The White House Transition Coordinating Council was created by Obama in May. The council reviewed a variety of issues for Christie and Salazar, including emergency preparedness, the processes for bringing in new personnel, and steps that key agencies are taking to make the transition more seamless.
