Ukraine calls to stop fire in war-torn Donbas before September 1, Ukrains'ka Pravda.
The statement released by the first vice speaker of Verkhovna Rada and a representative of humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko who spoke in Minsk on August 26.
Gerashchenko said: "We insist on an unconditioned ceasefire. This is especially topical on the eve of September 1. Today the Ukrainian side in all four subgroups initiates that all parties are obliged to cease fire before September 1 because not only the military but also civilians suffer."
She also reported there are 126 schools on the line of demarcation in the Luhansk region, in some regions last year children could not attend school because of the fighting.
Thus, Gerashchenko noted that the "Minsk agreement" is a mechanism of utmost importance to settle the crisis in Ukraine.
"We believe that the Minsk agreement is a very important mechanism for a peaceful, diplomatic solution to what is happening in Ukraine. Many had criticized the Minsk agreement, but from June last year to date, we have managed to free about 80 Ukrainian," first vice speaker said.
She also said Ukraine demands to establish the fifth subgroup of Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine that will focus on the issues arise on the Ukrainian border.
