The European Parliament will consider the report on a visa-free regime for Ukrainians on September 5, according to Rikard Jozwiak, Brussels reporter for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
The exact term of visa-free regime implementation is still unknown. EP is supposed to vote on this matter in October, but the exact date is not settled yet. On July 7, the European Parliament on Foreign Affairs voted for recommending to cancel short-term visas for Ukrainian citizens.
Ukraine has already completed all the requirements to obtain visa-free regime. The only barrier is implementing of e-declaration system. It is supposed to start working on September 1st.
The European Commission officially proposed visa liberalisation for Ukraine on April 20, saying that Kyiv has complied with the requirements for visa-free travel for Ukrainians across Europe.
On July 11, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn expressed hope that the visa-free regime issue with Ukraine would be resolved by October.
