At the same time, despite the cancellation the festivities are still planned to be held over the weekends.
Tashkent city administration and the Ministry of Culture and Sport that are responsible for carrying out the celebration, has not yet commented and has not provided an official information about the events on Independence Day.
Earlier, August 29 the president of Uzbekistan was hospitalizied with stroke.
In the evening of the same day, media started to spread the information of his death. However, no official statement confirmed the news.
