'Terrorist embassy' scandal unfolding: Ukraine files formal protest to Czech Republic
Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine filed a formal protest and handed a note to the Embassy of Czech Republic to Ukraine. Ukrainian MFA demands to use best efforts to reconsider the decision of local authorities on opening a "representative office" of a terrorist organisation, which is contrary to international law and bilateral Czech-Ukrainian agreements.
Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine stated it hopes for appropriate actions of Czech authorities in the short term. The Ministry has also passed to the law enforcement authorities of Ukraine the information on some Czech Republic citizens' activity concerning attempts to legalise a terroristic organisation.
Russian-backed Donetsk separatists earlier claimed they would open ‘officially registered diplomacy centre
on September 1. Official Prague said it would not recognise the 'embassy' or have any diplomatic relations with it.
