Ukraine can not afford to allocate more than 3% GDP for its defence, Poroshenko
The President noted that the military pressure on the budget and social sphere has been already critically high, UNIAN.
Speaking to the Parliament of Ukraine Poroshenko said that Ukraine can not afford to allocate more than 3% GDP to finance the army expenditures and strengthening the country's defence.
The President said: "Nearly 3% of GDP for defence is a lot compared to nearly 1%, which the government has neglected yet in mid zero years. But this is not enough for a country that is at war. Unfortunately more, and it's true, can not be afforded. Military pressure on the budget and social sphere has been already critically large."
"The army still needs the civil support and the government is grateful to everyone whose initiative strengthens the country's defence capability," he added.
He also added the aggressor, who the Ukrainian army daily keeps the defense in the Donbas against, transcends the potential of the Ukrainian army in all types of resources.
