Two presidential candidates appeared in the first televised forum.
Clinton pledged that the US was “not putting ground troops into Iraq ever again, and we are not putting ground troops into Syria,” during the town hall held by NBC News and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America in New York on Wednesday.
Unlike Clinton, Trump expressed the significance of "taking the oil" in Middle East.
He said: “We would leave a certain group behind and they would take the various sections where they have the oil.”
Trump while at the showdown criticised the Obama foreign police by saying that under his reign even the military’s generals have been “reduced to rubble.”
Trump also expressed his admiration of the President Putin by saying: "Certainly, in that system, he’s been a leader, far more than our president has been a leader.”
“We have a divided country,” he added.
In particular, the Republican presidential nominee cited Putin’s 82% approval rating as a sign of the Russian leader’s acumen.
He also pointed out that in cooperation with Russia the Islamic State will be defeated.
