The Russian Armed Forces provision with modern weapons should grow to 80% by 2020, so a large-scale upgrading will be completed, Interfax.
This was announced by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian leader said: "By 2020, in accordance with our plans, a large-scale rearmament of the army and the navy will be completed. The supply peak in the framework of this work will be performed."
Putin noted that the industry has got a large backlog of orders from the government.
Russian security forces provision with modern weapons by the end of 2016 should exceed 50%, and by 2020 this figure should grow to 80%, according to Putin.
Putin pointed out that for this purpose the radical modernization of the enterprises was carried out, and for this purpose considerable resources have been allocated.
"In the future we will go to the planned, rhythmic equipping of the armed forces, to replenish their arsenal as necessary and wearing out of acting machinery, and of course, work on a new generation of weapons,"Putin added.
However, in his opinion, the potential of the military-industrial complex should be used to the maximum and the existing facilities should be provided with work to the limits.
