Japan calls U.N. Security Council to hold emergency talks on North Korean nuclear test
Japan expects the UN Security Council to summon for an urgent meeting due to large-scale nuclear tests in North Korea, Kyodo.
Currently, Japan is not a permanent member of the Security Council and is now arranging an urgent meeting with other members of the UN Security Council.
It is assumed that UN Security can support UN Member States in sanctions implementing against North Korea, which were first introduced in March, and will possibly be further extended.
On Friday, North Korea conducted its most powerful nuclear tests
in the history entailing an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 points.
