The Russian Ministry of Finance has proposed to cut military spending by 6%.
It implies all costs under the article "national defense," according to the Ministry of Defense employee.
Since 2016 it has been expected to allocate 3.157 trillion rubles.
Reduced by 6%, about 190 billion rubles can be saved in 2017.
All costs might be reduced, yet focusing on cost optimization for the purchase and development of weapons and capital construction.
"Programs which realization will be stretched to longer term due to the cost reductions will be discussed on Friday at a meeting on the new state program of armaments by 2025 under the guidance of President Vladimir Putin," according to a statement.
However, the Finance Ministry did not provide any information about the cuts in defense spending.
The Ministry of Defence also declined to comment.
