Joint military training of Ukrainian soldiers in Romania
Joint military exercises Blonde Avalanche-16, which will be attended by troops from Romania, Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia commenced yesterday in Romania, Radio Svoboda.
The event takes place in the Romanian county of Satu Mare on the Somes river that is 30 kilometers south-east of the border with Ukraine.
Ukrainian participants as part of the international combined pontoon-bridge battalion train for the disaster management and the minimization of losses.
The exercise includes the special training for officers and training on unfamiliar terrain in the camp near the village Martinesti.
According to the local media reports, a combined battalion during the joint exercises will set up a pontoon crossing across the river Somes.
It is noted that Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia arrange Blonde Avalanche training each year due to the threat of frequent floods in the basins of the rivers Tisza and Danube (Romania).
