Australian ex-prime pinister is urging Russia to admit its role in MH17 catastrophe amid new evidence sprang, news.com.au.
Tony Abbott who was prime minister at the time of the crash, dismissed the claim that Russia-backed militants weren't at fault of downing of flight MH17.
"Russians would say that," he told 3AW on Tuesday.
He said that the evidence showed a Russian missile battery crossing the border into the Ukraine, downing the jet and heading back to Russia.
According to Abbott, Russian President Vladimir Putin is not a single person to be gullible but says the leader bears a heavy responsibility.
"I think the sooner Russia owns up to its role in all of this, and does what it can to offer restitution to the families of the victims, the better," he added.
According to the Russian military, radio-location data provides evidence that the missile that hit the Malaysia Airlines flight - killing 298 people including 38 Australians - was fired outside territory held by pro-Russian rebels.
