Russian Court overturned sentence against oppositionist Navalny
Supporters of opposition leader hope he might be eligible to run in the next Russian presidential election.
Russia's Supreme Court on Wednesday annuled a lower court's decision to hand Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny a suspended five year sentence.
A lower court had found Navalny and an associate guilty of embezzling funds from a timber firm in the Kirov region and in 2013 sentenced him to five years in prison, a sentence that was later suspended on appeal.
Navalny claimed the original ruling was politically-motivated and made to prevent him from running for presidential post in 2018.
