Ukrainian representative to the Trilateral Contact Group's humanitarian subgroup Iryna Herashchenko and OSCE coordinator Tony Frisch have met with the families of 109 Ukrainians held in the Donbas territories uncontrolled by Kyiv.
"Ambassador Frisch told them about his first visit to prisons in individual districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the past 36 months and said he had had a chance to speak with our servicemen and teenagers branded 'saboteurs and terrorists'. [...] We had a frank discussion of the negotiations and our efforts towards the release of the hostages," Herashchenko said on Facebook on Monday.
A total of 109 Ukrainians, both civilians and military men, are on the list of captives, she said. "Some servicemen have been imprisoned for over two years, since Ilovaisk and Debaltseve," Herashchenko said.
The release of prisoners is a primary objective of the humanitarian subgroup, she said. "We very much want to hear some good news of their release," Herashchenko said.
