Dodon prohibits Moldovan militaries to take part in drills in Ukraine

The President of Moldova Igor Dodon prohibited the Moldovan militaries to take part in the international Rapid Trident-2017 drills that will take place at Yavoriv proving ground, Lviv region. Dodon published the exchange of the official letters with the Deputy of the Defense Minister George Galbura at Facebook.
Galbura informed the Moldovan President about the participation of 57 militaries in the Rapid Trident drills for the training of the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo in the end of August. He noted that the Moldovan militaries take part in this drills since 1996 within Partnership for Peace program and all equipment and placement are paid by the organizers.
Dodon reminded Galbura that according to the acting legislation, the permit of the president as the supreme commander is needed for the participation of the militaries in the international drills and noted that he did not give such permission. The leader of Moldova gave the order to cancel all preparations for the drills and the organizers of the Rapid Trident were informed that the National Army of Moldova will not take part in the drills.
The Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak claimed that 2.500 militaries from Ukraine and countries-partners will take part in international Rapid Trident-2017 military drills in Lviv region that are planned for September.
