Lithuania urges EU to create ‘military Schengen’

Open source
The Lithuanian government offered the EU to set the ‘military Schengen area’ – for faster and more efficient deployment of troops across the European continent. The country’s  defense ministry reported that on Friday.
The initiative was discussed during the meeting of defense ministers in Tallinn, Estonia. The main topic for negotiations was creation of PESCO, the Permanent Military Cooperation Structure, and the European Defense Fund.
‘The project involves simplification of respective procedures and investments in the infrastructure. This initiative enjoys support of many countries; its practical implementation is essential for both EU and NATO,’ Lithuanian defense minister Raimundas Karoblis said.
