Kyiv's Solomiansky District Court has remanded the organiser of a scheme to defraud the Ukrainian State Railways Ukrzaliznytsia's subsidiary Center of Industry Management to 60 days in pretrial confinement, setting bail at UAH 1.015 million.
The press service of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine said the ruling was made on Wednesday, August 31, after the court had reviewed a petition by NABU detectives and prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
NABU said the suspect detained this week in Lviv is an official of the former state enterprise Center for Industrial Management of the State Administration of Ukrainian Railways. The person (who simultaneously in 2015 was an employee of the state enterprise) is suspected of using facilities of the enterprise registered in Lviv and Lviv region from 2014 through the start of 2016 to make purchases at artificially inflated prices totalling UAH 13.65 million.
Pretrial investigation of the case continues.
