Kyiv City Council plans to introduce two innovative public transport vehicles in a few years
Tram trains and BRT might come out in the streets of Kyiv in a couple of years, 44.ua.
In a few years the Ukrainian capital might introduce tram trains and high-speed buses BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), according to the first deputy mayor of Kyiv Genadiy Plis.
"This is, first and foremost, tram-trains that can use existing rail trains. This is BRT-systems. Qualitative indicators of such innovations are significant, and a tram-train cost amounts to $50-100mln ($2.3bln).
"The cost of laying and laucnhing the underground, for example, may exceed $42bln," Plis added.
BRT is the public transportation bus system that combines the speed of the subway with the low cost and flexibility of the bus system. They are long buses, which run on an individual lane.
