An indictment against former head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine Denys Antoniuk has been endorsed by a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Procedure and sent to Kyiv's Solomyansky district court.
Agents of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have completed a pretrial investigation
in criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or misuse of office with grave consequences), NABU said in an announcement on its official website this week.
NABU claims that UM Air LLC sustained over UAH 750,000 in losses from Antoniuk's activity.
"In keeping with materials of the pretrial investigation, the [then] head of the State Aviation Service (a category-A public servant) violated laws when he gave preferences to PrJSC Ukraine International Airlines, aiming to obtain illegal benefits. Contrary to the Aviation Service's interests and using his official position, he did not agree the departure schedule of state-owned enterprise UM Air LLC's duly certified aircraft for November 17 and February 5, 2015, thus in fact cancelling the flights en route between Kyiv and Tehran," NABU said.
As reported earlier, Cabinet of Ministers on September 4, 2015, posted on its website order on dismissing Antoniuk as head of the State Aviation Service
for violating the oath of a public servant.
