According to the Russian Emergency Ministry, the convoy is heading to Donbas carrying food, medicines, building materials.
Over 60 trucks of the Russian humanitarian aid for Donbas crossed the Ukrainian-Russian border, according to the press service of Emergency Ministry of Russia (EMR).
The statement stated: "While in the journey, the EMR column divided into two. One of which arrived to the checkpoint of "Donetsk," the second to the "Matveyev-Kurgan."
According to authorities, goods were examined at the checkpoints and were undergoing "customs registration in accordance with strict international law."
"EMR cars had been stopped at the checkpoint opening the rear canopy. Not only cars were subjected verification but the supporting documents on humanitarian aid as well," EMR assured.
Currently, the 56th humanitarian convoy weighting over 600 tons is heading to the unloading points in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
"The bulk of the goods are food, medicines, building materials and other property," it goes in a statement.
