The city of Uman in Cherkasy region has welcomed more than 2500 chassids-pilgrims on September 27, UNIAN.
Mass arrival of chassids to Uman commenced at the night of 26 September, according to the national police of Ukraine department in Uman, Cherkasy region.
According to preliminary data, more than 30,000 pilgrims from 20 countries are expected to arrive to Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah.
Most of them (80%) are the citizens of the State of Israel and the US.
The city has provided police officers and rescue workers to secure the pilgrims safety round the clock.
Annually, Jewish disciples of Hasidism come to Uman as here, in the Jewish cemetery, Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav (1772-1810) was buried.
He was the founder of Bratslav Hasidism.
Rabbi's tomb is one of the most revered shrines in Hasidism and a place of annual mass pilgrimage.
This year Rosh Hashanah will be celebrated on October 2-3.
