Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has developed a number of measures that will order the work of the minibuses in the country.
These initiatives will be subject to consideration by the Verkhovna Rada within the Infrastructure Day on November 3.
In an interview with TSN the head of the department Vladymyr Omeljan said: "We are now preparing a series of by-laws on the Cabinet of Ministers level to regulate the security issues.
"Also, it will be considered during the Infrastructure Day in the parliament on November 3. The requirements will be advanced for the safety and comfort of citizens and the market itself will be liberalized," he added.
Among the issues that require settlement at the legislative level, Omeljan listed passengers safety and lack of control over income received by minibus drivers.
The minister said: "The problem is that we have a lot of so-called minibuses (marshrutkas) converted from freight vans, without any safety measures ... Unfortunately, we have a problem that a lot of minibuses are illegal, they do not pay taxes.
"In addition, drivers can cheat their employers, so we want to introduce a single electronic ticket," the minister added.
