EU Commission suggests to charge non-EU citizens of visa-free travel regime

Citizens from countries that have visa-free regime with the EU have been offered to pay a fee.
The EU commission has come up with a proposal to charge non-EU citizens, who enjoy visa-free travel in the EU, an EUR 5 fee for entry to the Schengen zone.
Roughly 30 million people who enter the EU every year from 60 visa-waiver countries might fall under the the proposed scheme.
The list of countries includes in particularthe US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
The move is reported to tighten the bloc's border security.
The system could be launched in 2020 if it gets a quick approval from EU member states and the European parliament.
