The citizen of Ukraine Stanislav Klykh illegally convicted in Russia is under treatment in the psychiatric hospital. The High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova reported this upon the request of the Ukrainian ombudsman Valeriya Lutkovska.
According to the information, Stanislav Klykh was at the hospital treatment in the branch of the psychiatric hospital of the Federal public healthcare establishment in Magnitogorsk as at September 4, 2014.
According to the Russian ombudsman, the Ukrainian was hospitalized upon his written consent.
It is planned to discharge Stanislav Klykh from the inpatient department in the nearest future, taking into account the general well-being mend of Klykh. We will report about the transfer for the further service of the sentence later, the letter of Moskalkova said.
Earlier, neither the lawyer nor the relatives did not have the information on the exact medical institution where Klykh was transferred, as well the aim and period.
Mykola Karpyuk, the leader of the Ukrainian National Assembly, was detained in March 2014. Stanislav Klykh was detained in Russia in September 2014, when he came to Russia to visit his pregnant girlfriend.
The Russian jury said they both allegedly joined the Viking unit, which fought on the side of Chechen nationalists as they sought independence from Russia in the 1990s.The jury accused Karpyuk and Klykh of killing and wounding dozens of Russian servicemen. Klykh was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
