China announced spaceplane for tourists
Chinese engineers have started to build the world's largest spaceplane that will lift tourists to orbit the Earth, Popular Science.
China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology is developing a gigantic spaceplane that could fly 20 people.
A state-backed firm wants to get rid of all the extra parts, instead completing the entire process with one rocket-powered spaceplane that takes off like a rocket, and returns to earth like a shuttle.
Team leader Han Pengxin said that the flights will cost around $200,000 to $250,000, a price point roughly identical to Virgin Galactic’s similar space tourism offering, with about the same time in space.
