Intel intends to spend $250 million to develop self-driving cars
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich has said his company will spend $250 million over the next two years toward the development of autonomous vehicles, the Verge.
Speaking at the LA Auto Show Tuesday, Krzanich announced a significant sum of money to be allocated to develop self-driving cars.
In a statement, Intel says the investment will help “push the boundaries on next-generation connectivity, communication, context awareness, deep learning, security, safety and more.” In other words, tech company wants to be the company that processes the data powering the self-driving cars made by auto manufacturers.
Intel sounds like it’s more interested in what goes into the technology that powers a self-driving car rsther than building the car itself.
