Ukraine is to get 4G technology next year
The National Commission for Communications Regulation and Information plans to issue licenses for the fourth generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology in the second-third quarter of 2017.
The National Commission for Communications Regulation and Information (NCCRI) revealed its plans to issue the first licenses for the 4G in the second or third quarter of 2017.
According to the chairman of NCCRI Olexander Zhivotovsky, by now it comes to the radio frequency of 2.6 GHz.
NCCRI has also approved a governmental project that provides the necessary regulatory changes for 4G implementation in Ukraine.
Zhivotovsky also hopes that the three largest operators in Ukraine - Kyivstar, Vodafone and Ukraine lifecell will agree on the exchange of radio frequencies in the 1800 MHz band, which is also suitable for 4G.
"Public discussion will continue until the end of December, then we will submit the relevant documents for the government's approval," he said.
