Interstate Aviation Committee ascertained cause of 737-800 crash in Rostov-on-Don
The Interstate Aviation Committee has determined the cause of the FlyDubai passenger airplane crash which took place on March 19 in an airport of the Russian city Rostov-on-Don.
According to the official statement, the crash occured because the jet's pilots shifted the stabilizer which plunged the aircraft down.
"The aircraft had been moving with its engines at take-off setting after aborting its second approach to the runway at a height of 220m (4km away from the runway)," the official statement reads.
At the height of 900m, the yoke was pushed in the direction away from the crew causing stabilizer deflection to a five-degree nose-down position. That is why the plane started losing the height. "Subsequent actions of the crew could not prevent the aircraft's collision with the ground," the inquiry says. "The aircraft rapidly pitched down and dived with a speed of 600km/h and a pitch exceeding 50 degrees."

The report also stated that the plane was being operated manually with the autopilot disengaged.
A passenger airplane 737-800 crashed on March 19 in the Russian port city Rostov-on-Don with 62 people aboard – 55 passengers and seven crew members. There were no survivors. The preliminary causes were meteorological conditions and pilot error.
