Nationalists, Eurosceptics play into hands of Putin's strategy to weaken EU - Czechia's Foreign Minister

Nationalists, Eurosceptics play into hands of Putin's strategy to weaken EU - Czechia's Foreign MinisterCzechia's Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek in a recent interview with the Financial Times expressed an opinion that nationalist and Eurosceptic movements play an important role in Vladimir Putin's strategy to weaken Europe.

"This is constantly discussed. We have no doubt that Russia is looking for ways to finance it," Zaoralek explained. "Russia acts using our weaknesses. We should find ways to respond."

The Czech minister added that the Russian President supports rightwing parties in Europe using the 'divide and rule' policy.

"The rightwing populism is very dangerous because it can actually destroy the European mainstream. Russia's long-term strategy is to 'divide and rule'," Zaoralek declared.

He also warned that Britain's upcoming June 23 on leaving or staying in the E.U. also threatens to weaken the European integration and will work in Putin's favor.

"This dissatisfaction with the EU in Britain is a great chance for Russia to become more powerful in Europe," the Czech Minister stated.
