NATO patrol fighters spotted Russian bomber aircraft over Baltics
The fighters of the NATO patrol police spotted a Russian bomber aircraft over the Baltics. The National Armed Forces of Latvia have reported this on Twitter.
"On July 10, the fighters of the patrol police have spotted over the Baltic Sea near Latvian border an IL-22 bomber belonging to the Russian armed forces," the statement reads.
This incident is the latest incursion by military aircraft and warships in the Baltic regions.
In 2015, Russian warplanes were located near the Latvian border over 270 times. Aircrafts do not violate the territorial integrity of the country; however, they could threaten civil aviation.
